Shining Through, acrylic on canvas 24x36 inches
I went on a trip down the coast to Big Sur on a day that was supposed to be dreary and grey. A large storm front had been moving through, and it wasn't looking like it would let up, but nevertheless I proceeded down the coast in the early morning. I was rewarded while standing at the overlook to Mcway Falls with a glorious sight, as the sun unexpectedly broke through the gloom to illuminate the turquoise waters of the cove in front of me. It was truly a breathtaking sight, and a reminder of the power of warmth and light to shine through the storms we face. This painting captures the feeling of the sun glinting off of the water and the motion of the waves crashing against the rocks with exquisite detail, as the softly painted background recedes into infinite distance.
